The Construction Specifier, March 2011

Featured Project Wendall H. Ford Regional Training Center: Controls Upgrade

In 2009, the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Department of Military Affairs selected Paladin to upgrade the controls systems at Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center . This project was one of several awarded in efforts to improve energy efficiency and operations throughout the Kentucky National Guard properties. Paladin designed the controls system and commissioned their installation and operation. The purpose of the project was to integrate facilities not currently on energy management system into the Center's DDC control system. The following facilities were integrated: UTES Building Offices, D-First, Battle Simulation, Range Control, Engineering Building Offices, Barracks, and Administration Buildings.
Energy Management capabilities allowed for temperature control, monitoring, and scheduling for all facilities. For the Barracks, humidity and CO2 monitoring were added. An extensive piece of Paladin's project effort was in the verification of system integration and operation.
